Add an UnconstrainedBox and factor out debug overflow indicator. (#12856) · 3541ad0a
      Greg Spencer authored
UnconstrainedBox will allow its child to size itself as if it had no constraints, and then attempt to fit around that object, until its own constraints are exceeded, in which case it will clip and display an overflow warning.

I also factored out DebugOverflowIndicator, which will draw overflow indicators on containers which overflow but aren't expected to.

      RTL: Padding, Flex (#11709) · f235a2c1
      Ian Hickson authored
      * Introduce a Directionality inherited widget which sets the ambient LTR vs RTL mode (defaulting to null, which means you cannot use directionality-influenced values).

      * Make it possible to configure Padding (including Container.padding and Container.margin) using a directionality-agnostic EdgeInsets variant.

      * Provide textDirection and verticalDirection controls on Row and Column to make them RTL-aware.

      * Introduce a variant of FractionalOffset based on the EdgeInsets variant. Not yet actually used.

      * Fix all the tests that depended on Row defaulting to LTR.

Sprinkle some mixin magic incantations (#10442) · 9eae8b83
      Ian Hickson authored
This prevents some of our mixins from being subclassed.

Also, move mixins to using 'extends' instead of 'implements' for
      future compatibility with Dart changes.

Also, rename a class that had Mixin in the name but was not a mixin.

Much work on the documentation (#10331) · f50caddf
      Ian Hickson authored
Minor fixes throughout, e.g. removing trailing commas from the end of sample code expressions, changing headings to "sample code" more consistently, removing stale todos, fix typos in a private method name, minor grammar fixes, added some clarifications to CircularProgressIndicator, LinearProgressIndicator, CrossAxisAlignment, added some cross-references to various members, made it slightly clearer that layout algorithms are implementation details.

      Clarified "elevation" throughout.

Added docs to InkResponse and InkWell.

Added sample code for: SliverAppBar, Card, ListTile, EdgeInsets, Row, Column, CustomScrollView, ListView, SliverFixedExtentList, and SliverGrid.

      Add Wrap (#9225) · 882c992b
      Adam Barth authored
The Wrap widget is a layout that places children in a run in order along its
main axis until it runs out of space. At that point, starts placing children in
a new run that is adjacent in the cross axis.

Rename Flexible to Expanded and improve docs (#6978) · 8ca4caa4
      Adam Barth authored
This patch replaces uses of Flexible with Expanded where we're using
FlexFit.tight. We still need to think of a better name for the
      FlexFit.loose variant.

Also, improve the docs for Row, Column, Flex, and RenderFlex to be more
problem-oriented and to give a complete account of the layout algorithn.

Change the definition of MainAxisSize (#5931) · e04135e9
      Adam Barth authored
This property now applies only to the free space in the flex layout (i.e.,
minimize or maximize the amount of free space). Previously, the flexible
children were always allocated a size of zero when MainAxisSize was min. Now
they're allocated the same size that would be if the MainAxisSize was max.

      Add FlexFit.loose (#5908) · 3ed4960b
      Adam Barth authored
Previously, flexible children were always required to fill their allocated
space. After this change, they can fit loosely into that space and not fill it.
When that happens, the remaining free space is allocated according to the
      maixAxisAlignment.

Instead of incorporating the margin into the button, introduce a ButtonBar
widget that supplies the proper spacing between the buttons. Also, make these

Add even more careful checks around BoxConstraints (#3243) · 47f5c6f2
      Ian Hickson authored
I ran into a case where I was setting minHeight=∞ and then calling
layout() with that constraint, which is all kinds of bad. To try to
catch this earlier, this patch now provides a way to catch constraints
      that are requiring infinite values.

We don't _always_ check this because there are valid uses for
      BoxConstraints.biggest, e.g. as an additionalConstraint.

      Ian Hickson authored
The elaboration will continue until morale improves.

      Specific exceptions considered here:

       - size setter checking when you set the size
       - layout verifying that you do set the size
       - hitTest verifying that you aren't dirty and have a size
       - flex complaining about canFlex
